Embassy Review : |
We arrived around 9:45 for our 10am appointment. There was a long-ish line to even get in the building which we did not account for unfortunately. They were checking IDs and notices and it took over 10mins to get into the building. After that we had to put all our belongings in bins to go through the metal detector. They are extremely strict on what's brought in, even my airport approved multi-tool keychain they flagged, delaying us more. So bring as little as possible!
After hurrying through that we were a couple minutes late getting to the 2nd floor and checking in, I was super worried, but the worker checking us in was quick and super nice and said it was no problem. We waited another 10 minutes or so to be called in for our interview.
The interview was relaxed. He went over basic questions with my husband, clarifying when he entered the country, what type of Visa he was on originally, his job status, and our new address. Study your dates, years included, it can feel overwhelming when you're on the spot remember exact dates, so practice! He then asked me to explain how we met, again asking clarifying questions mostly related to dates. When we met, when and who proposed to who, when we moved in together, why we decided to get married, that sort of thing. I completely said the wrong year at one point, but corrected myself and he seemed satisfied.
He then went in and explained how my husband would be receiving his green card in about 2 weeks, and then explained a bit how removal of conditions would work. He also asked us to pick out some personal items (pictures, our wedding invites, etc) to be included in the file. We were out by 10:45am, total interview lasted probably 25-30mins. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
