Consulate Review: Mumbai, India Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Event Description Review Date : July 24, 2018 Embassy Review : We stayed at Trident Mumbai BKC, which was a very nice hotel just nearby and they also offer a dropoff in the morning directly at the gate of the consulate. We were standing across the road along with all the paperwork. They allowed my husband who is the petitioner along with me, once the timing was there. We left all cell phone and electronic devices. Then once everything was verified at the first window they asked us to reverify everything at another window inside. Then the process of waiting started until our token number is called. It took almost an hour and half for us to be called. Once we went to the window the CO asked my husband to wait until later he calls him. He asked me my name confirmed my identity and went ahead to ask me questions all basic general questions most of which you can find on this forum. Then he asked me to call my husband, then he asked him his duration of visit and asked us to show our pictures, we had carried a lot of them so he took everything and looked. He made a few jokes and comments and we exchanged a few laughs it was very casual. Then towards the end he kept typing on his computer and returned our passport along with a white letter saying 221G administrative processing. We were both confused as it said our file was incomplete but they did not ask as any more documents. The CO said he needs to finish a review and cannot tell us an exact time but reassured us that he will work on it. He asked us to wait and be patient. We both were disappointed. The process lasted about 4 months total we involved our local senators I don't know if they were much help but they gave us the same answers we were already getting from the US consulate. They finally asked us to submit a fresh police clearance certificate at the end of June along with passport and issued our visa end of July. I am glad this has ended, but the experience at the consulate was frustrating since all our paperwork was immaculate but i guess you never know what they are looking for. Rating : Moderate
