Comments : USCIS approval done in March but not sent to NVC until I made multiple calls. :( 6 weeks wasted upon having already waited for months.

NVC took exactly 8 weeks to issue a number for my case. Recieved the info ( case number and AOS bill) via email. (Because they had my email already when... USCIS didnt send my case to NVC I called NVC and an investigation was started...so they needed my email for updates.)

Updates to be continued....

***After the interview, we were in Administrative processing. We learned from visa journey that if CEAC status goes from admin processing to "ready" then back to admin processing.....your "Issued" status is coming soon. ****

The interview:::

My husband says there is a hotel walking distance away from the embassy and it was very cheap. I front loaded (sent ALL documents to USCIS and NVC.)

The questions asked at my husband's interview were the same questions everyone posted before me (Nigeria portal reviews) so I won't go too much into that. The interview went well. He says it was with an African American lady.

TIPS:::

Be confident at the interview! Before filing Spouse visa we tried filing for fiancé visa while we were engaged. He was denied K1 because he was nervous/ looked shy/ didn't make eye contact etc. So they thought we weren't legit even though we went with LOADS OF EVIDENCE.. YOU HAVE TO BE CONFIDENT AND KNOW YOUR SPOUSE LIKE YOU KNOW YOURSELF! !!

if you have kids from a previous relationship- TAKE ALL OF THEIR DOCUMENTS WITH YOU TOO, even if you are not filing for them at the moment. The embassy asked for my stepson's documents:

***vaccination record ( because they know you may end up filing for the kid(s) later so they want to make sure they are vaccinated.

***birth certificate

***pictures of you with your child throughout different stages of the child's life/ at different events. IE- naming ceremony, birthdays, first day of school pics, weddings you both attended etc. They want proof you are a part of the child's life. and they want you to label EACH picture with date, names of who is in the picture, and the event. They want to see both of you in the picture, not just the child.

This is one of the reasons we did not get our visa immediately after the interview. We had to go back and gather those documents even though we did NOT file for his son. He is staying with his mother and possibly joining us later. After a successful interview in November 2018, we did not get the visa until two months after because they had to review those documents also known as "administrative processing". Be prepared, go with EVERYTHING.

When initially filing for a visa, front load all documents to USCIS.

 Also very important----email a copy of everything you sent to USCIS and NVC to your spouse also so that they are familiar with the forms. When we went for the first interview my husband had no clue what our tax forms and other forms looked like. (these simple things we take for granted). Don't just arrange it in a binder neatly for them... let them get familiar with it all so that when they ask for any form, he or she knows what to confidently hand the officer.

Our  visa journey was a looooooooooong one.  I hope these tips help you in addition to the other advice given here on visa journey. I wish you all the absolute best.
