Hello everyone, January 4th was our interview. The first thing I can say is this is really not as scary as I thought it would be. We had a ton of evidence like plane tickets, bus tickets, money transfers, photos, wedding party receipts, and a baby on the way. Still, I was worried being that we had not mutual rent contract or bills but doesn't matter. I've been staying in Peru with my husband most of this process and I think them seeing us together made it easier. The medical exam was done and the price of your vaccines really depends. For my husband it was a lot cheaper than we thought. The day of our interview we came with out cell phones or purse, just papers in hand. Our interview was for 8:45 AM but we arrived at 6:30 AM. During the day there is a stand that holds your things for 5 soles but it wasn't there that early in the morning. They didn't make us wait outside until our appointment. We were 5th in line and we went right in. It seemed that people were called to the window according to their appt time. They asked for all of our evidence, they separated the originals and translations and took them. When you order your papers I suggest rubberband all your evidence together then put original documents alongside their translations. My husband then did his electronic finger prints. They ask you to sit back down with a laminated statement that you have to read about the legal implications of the info you are presenting. You are called to another window for your interview. The interviewer gave us back our evidence and asked my husband in Spanish how we met. While he was explaining, the interviewer was fumbling with our originals. He asked me in english if I was employed and he said we didn't need a joint sponsor (we had one just in case). He asked me when we planned to travel, I admit we bought our tickets to travel in 9 days. He put a pink sticker on my husbands passport and gave us a matching sticker with an appt to pick up his visa to make sure we would get it in time. We said thank you and left. The following monday we picked up his visa and packet. Done, Easy, finally!!!! |
