Consulate Review: Singapore
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 17, 2018
Embassy Review : My interview was scheduled for 17 Jan 2018 at 9.30am. I arrived at about 9.05am and approached the guard. He asked me what type of visa I was interviewing for. As I was there for an immigrant visa, I was asked to join the shorter queue just in front of the entrance, as opposed to queueing at the covered waiting area. At the security checkpoint, they checked my appointment letter and my bag and took my electronic devices including earphones and ibanking tokens. I was given a disc with a number, which I would need to collect my items later.

I then proceeded up and went to another security checkpoint where my bag and appointment letter were checked again. I was then told to go to the first room on the left. Upon entering, I was asked what I was here for. For immigrant visa, I got a queue ticket and a list to tell me how to arrange my documents. I was told my number would be called. Non-immigrant visa interviews were also conducted in this room so it could be confusing for some, as they were required to queue while I was not. There were 3 people ahead of me.

I was finally called to the first window at about 10.15am. My documents were checked and I was asked some questions such as what my husband did for a living and how my joint sponsor was related to us and what he did as well. I was asked if I had registered online with aramex, which I had. I was then given a form to be used in case I had missing documents. I was also given a yellow pamphlet about domestic violence and resources for victims. I then waited a short while again and was called for my interview. It was very short. I had to swear that all the info I provided was true, and give my fingerprints. I was asked how and when I met my husband, and what he did for a living, and where he was living and where we got married. At the end, I was told that they have all my documents and can issue my visa. I will be contacted to collect my passport with the visa via aramex.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
