N400 interview occurred at the same time as Lifting of conditions interview. The USCIS case officer said we would not receive a green card since my spouse has been cleared to become a citizen. |

Biometrics from the Lifting of Conditions application was used for the N400, so we didn't have to go in again. The interview process went really smoothly. Since my wife was getting both the I-751 and N400 interview simultaneously, I was allowed to be there with her. The interview went as follows:
English comprehension: She was asked to read the sentence "What was Abraham Lincoln well known for?"
English writing: She was asked to write the sentence "Lincoln was known for winning the civil war."
American Civics/History quiz (she got the following six questions):
1. What does freedom of religion mean?
2. What movement sought to end racial discrimination?
3. Name 3 of the original 13 colonies.
4. How many US senators are there?
5. Name two freedoms in the Declaration of Independence.
6. When was the US constitution adopted?
My wife got all 6 right, so he stopped after that. He then asked a bunch of questions about her employment history, the reason for her two trips outside of the country, and to briefly summarize the evidence we had given to demonstrate our ongoing marriage (he didn't look at anything we brought; just wanted to know what we had, e.g. IRS tax transcripts, etc.).
He wrapped up the interview by congratulating my wife and said there might be an option for a same-day oath ceremony. However, the lady that came to give us confirmation our oath ceremony said there were no more slots for that day, so we were scheduled for a slot two days later. |

Embassy Review : |
Our appointment was for 7:30 AM. We arrived at consulate by around 6:45 am and there were a ton of people standing across the street. At 7 am, the security guards allowed us to queue in front of the embassy. I would highly recommend that you come early and try to get in the front of the queue (esp. if you have a 7:30 am appointment, which is I believe the first possible appointment); tokens are handed out in the order of people waiting in line and it dramatically reduces your waiting time if you are able to get one of the first tokens.
Anyways, ~7:15 am, they allowed us into the embassy, we passed through security and into an outside waiting area where we were able to sit down. (Side note: do not bring your cell phones or any sort of backpacks, they will not allow them into the embassy). Three Indian staff members walked through the line and made us take out/arrange the following documents --
1) DS-260 confirmation
2) Interview appointment letter.
3) Police Certificate + Copy
4) Birth Certificate + Copy
5) Marriage Certificate + Copy
6) Medical Examination packet
We were then allowed into another room which was lined with interview counters. We were given tokens (we got the fifth token) and then started waiting. About 15 minutes, later we were called up to one of the counters where an Indian staff woman looked over the documents, opened the medical packet and reviewed the contents. She took my wife's passport and then handed her the flier on domestic abuse. She asked literally no questions. She handed back all of the originals and then asked us to sit back down.
We then waited ~1 hour before we were called back to an interview counter. The consular officer confirmed I was the petitioner and then asked me to sit back down. He then asked my wife the following questions --
(1) How did you and your husband meet?
(2) How did you get to know each other prior to the wedding?
(2) He asked to see pictures of our wedding.
(3) What does you husband do for a living?
(4) He asked to see photos for a Christmas trip we took to Austria.
He then asked if she'd read the packet on domestic abuse and then uttered the magical words, your visa has been approved!!! The CO gave my wife an approval slip, as well as another document on how to pay the green card fee! We exited the consulate; in total it took us ~3.5 hours.
Some notes/tips:
(1) The CO didn't look at any of the extensive evidence documents we'd brought.
(2) No one asked for the I-864 form or any of my tax documents.
(3) The CO flipped briefly through all of the photo books we'd brought to the interview
(4) Highly recommend you bring a book or something, there's a lot of waiting!

Embassy Review : |
We had paid a little extra to be seated closest to the airplane exit, so after we landed we were like the 3rd or 4th people in the Visitor immigration line. The immigration officer saw my wife was immigrating today and asked when we had gotten married. He was pretty nice and even jokingly asked whether our HIndu wedding had gone on for 5 days. He scanned my wife's passport, asked for the sealed visa packet, wrote something on the packet and told us to go to the Secondary screening room.
Secondary had two immigration officers. We handed our passports and the visa packet to one man. He confirmed we were married less than two years and then he handed a sheet of paper to use and asked both my wife and I to sign it. The paper basically was a reminder to file for removal of conditions 90-days before the 2-year anniversary. He asked us to sit down, while another lady officer began to open and process our visa packet. 5-minutes later, she handed back our passports and wife's CR1 visa was stamped. In total, the whole process took us <15 minutes. We were asked virtually no questions. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
