Our Interview had been originally scheduled for January 5th, 2006 but since my son was due that day, we rescheduled and were given a date of February 7th, 2006. My husband (USC) met us in Montreal the night before and the next morning we arrived at the Consulate at 9:00am as our interview was at 9:45am. We went through security without any problems and headed upstairs. Sat and waited until our number was called. I went and handed all of our documents in and the officer asked where my x-ray was, I didn't have it as at the time of my medical I was pregnant and the panel physician would not perform the x-ray. The officer told us to go pay the $100, return with the reciept and take a seat. About 20 minutes later we were called into the interviewing room. The officer did not ask us any questions about our "relationship" but more about our newborn son who was just under 4 weeks old at the time. He said the only thing missing was my x-ray and that I would have to send it in before they would issue my Visa. My husband explained the whole pregnancy situation so the officer left to ask a supervisor about the situation. He came back, gave me a card to return the next afternoon and said my Visa was approved but I should get a TB skin test done as soon as I enter the USA since I will need that for my AOS application. Overall, a very painless process...just remember not to have a purse that looks anything like a backpack cause it will not be allowed in...just use a plastic bag! |

Our interview was at 10:30am, we arrived at 9:45am...stood in line for about 10 minutes, went through security (do NOT bring camera phones) and found room 190 is to your left on the first floor! We submitted our paper and waited, and waited...finally at 11:30am we were called in. Officer Alvarez, was fantastic. Very professional and personable! The interview was quick and painless...he just wanted to see originals of the copies we submitted. Once that was finished he was ready to approve us...BUT...FBI name check has not been completed. So, other than the continued wait, the whole experience was pleasant. One recommendation..try and find free parking, if you don't, they have "Immigration Parking" for unlimited time for $10...we just paid that because we did not want to walk to far with our 7 month old son...and don't wait till the last minute to show up because apparantly by noon that initial line can wrap around the building...oh, and pay attention to the address on your forms...while we were there 2 couples went to the wrong building and were an hour late for the interviews. They were initally turned away and told that a reschedule notice would be sent out, but then the officers changed their minds and rescheduled them. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
