Thank you to everyone on Visa Journey for helping us get through this K1 process.
Our appointment was at 7:45am today. We parked in the lot off of Rue St-Alexandre for $10.00 and arrived around 7:20am. There were only 4 people in line. All we had with us was a binder in a plastic bag, jackets, and a car key. Once security opened the doors, a lady came out and asked everyone in line their appointment times. We were then allowed in first, although we were at the end of the line. When you enter you are asked for your passports and provided with a laminated sheet that gives you your document submission order. We then put all of our belongings and jackets in a bin to be scanned, and we also walked through the security scanner. I had to check in my car keys and we were directed to go downstairs. In the room I put the documents for myself and child in order.

I-134 and supporting documents (We did not have the 2016 tax return completed. We did bring proof (receipt) that we requested an extension for the 2016 taxes and the 2015 and 2014 tax transcripts)
We were then asked to line up by the elevator. The security guard pressed the button to the 19th floor for us. As we exited there was a friendly lady that directed us to sit down until our number was called. My number was called within 1 minute and we went to the counter to hand in our documents. The lady asked for my documents first and took my fingerprints. I explained I did not have taxes for 2016 and she suggested I give as much as I could to show sufficient income. I gave 6 paystubs and sales receipts from my fiances business. I also gave the deed to his house showing the value. Then I handed in the documents for my daughter. No fingerprints are required for a child under 14 so she was happy about that. I was given back my xray cd.
If you have a K2 make sure you have a separate copy of the I-134 and intent letter for their document submission.
There was no mention that the actual I-129 had expired on March 10.
We were then asked to sit down again until our number was called. 10 minutes later I was very happy to get the interviewer at counter 8. I told him I was extremely nervous. You have to take an oath...the K2 doesn't. The interview is a casual conversation. How did you meet? Have you met any of his family? Any plans for the wedding? And problems entering the USA before? And that was it. I was handed the welcome sheet with directions and this chapter is now closed.
Crazy how we are so anxious and nervous for something that is over in an hour. I was surprised there wasn't as many people as I had expected there. We are from Toronto so we were able to just drive to Montreal and stayed at the Travelodge Hotel down the street.
