My interview was scheduled at 9:45 am. I went inside at 9:30, after the security and temperature check, I was told to go into the waiting room.
When I arrived there, I saw maybe around 8-10 people waiting. After about 45 mins, my name was called.
The officer was extremely nice and considerate. He told me that my I-751 removal of conditions had not even been touched for almost 2 years, so he had taken care of it and approved it even before he called me in.
He asked me if I had any questions or comments. I said yes, life update is that me and my wife just had a baby.
The interview was quick, he got right into the civic questions, I answered 6 out of 8 correctly.
Then he asked me what do I do, and asked for my child's birth certificate. The yes/no questions. And that was it.
He DID NOT ask for any other documents or questions.
Unfortunately their system was not working so he couldn't do the oath ceremony for everyone there but told me the next one is on April 1st. I was fine with that.
I was extremely nervous the night before, but just took the basic documents that were asked for. My wife and baby were outside in the car, and i told him that but he said that's fine, we won't need them to come inside.
Best of luck everyone. It was a long wait to get inside that room, but thank Goodness, its finally over. |

Interview on 24 July 2017
It was a long and adventurous day.
First when I reached the parking area, I checked my documents one last time before going inside. And guess what. My 2x2 photos were missing. Mini heart-attack right there. I looked twice but didn't find it. I went inside to see the photo studio shop closed. Luckily it was open in 20 minutes and I got my photos done. Took the rental car and reached the embassy at 8 am for a 8;30 am interview. Waited till 8;30 and was allowed to go in. Hell lot of people in there. Was called after an hour for biometrics. An hour and a half later for documents submission and finally at around 11.55 am had my interview. Longest wait of my life.
Just before my interview I overheard the interview of another girl who's husband was in Houston, Texas.
The CO asked her, are you first cousins and she said yes. He said, do you know in Texas first cousins aren't allowed to marry according to the state laws. You need to ask your husband to move to another state and then send us the evidence and then we can process your visa.
So everyone just make sure you check the list of States that allow cousin marriages and those that do not. Just google it and make sure you are aware of this.
Back to my interview;

Timeline Comments: 1 Ikhan on 2020-06-09 said: Appreciate your thorough status updates. It really helps out people who are waiting for their spouse i130 application.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
