I had the interview for my visa on 13th September 2016, 1 pm. Long waiting and disappointing result.
I arrived at the embassy 1 hour earlier,just to be sure I'll be in time. I have waited until 1 pm in front of the Embassy across the street. At 1 pm a guardian or something came out with a list and requested our names and when are we appointed for the interview. He called us to go 2 by 2 inside the embassy. First we went through security check(no electronics allowed.If you have any,they are going to keep them until you are finished with the interview). I exited the security area point and went into another building. Inside there were like 12 or 15 windows in a row and waiting chairs. There was a security guy that told me to go to window no 2 if there's no one there and give my passport. So I did.
After I gave my passport to the lady from window no 2,I was told to take a seat in the waiting room. I waited for about 15 minutes and then I was called to window no 5 to have my fingerprints taken. Again to my seat. 10 more minutes and I was called to window 3 to give all my documentation (marriage certificate and birth certificate in original,police certificate,TNT confirmation page and all my bona fide marriage documents- I had 2 huge folders with 15 files inside.I gave them all to that lady,piece by piece-9 files with each of my husband trips,2 files with financial co-mingle,1 file with cards and letters,1 with conversations from viber,whats-app and emails,another one with conversations from 2011-2014 and one with phone records). #You have little space to slip your files trough the window you are called;make sure you have flexible and not too thick files#
After 15 to 20 minutes of waiting I was called to the actual interview. It was short and simple since I had a lot of documentation. She asked me from the beginning to swear that I am telling the truth and took my left hand fingerprints as signature for my oath.
First question: How did you two meet?
I began to tell her our story and from time to time she would ask me some other questions,as she was looking trough my files.She was nice and smiling and appreciated that I brought so much documentation and in a very organized way.
She didn't have enough time to look trough everything though,it was a lot.
Other questions were:
#Where and when did you meet for the first time?
#How many times did he visited you?
#Where does he live in the US?
#What is his job?
#Were you or your husband married before?
#Do you or him have children together or separately?
#Were you ever arrested or convicted by the police?
#How long did you lived in Ireland? Were you there more than a year in your lifetime altogether? If yes,you need a police certificate from that country.(And that was my issue, I didn't.)
#Is your husband here with you?
After all these questions,the American consul told me that my visa is approved but i need to send them my police certificate from Ireland for my visa to be issued in my passport. It was like a blow for me...I have bought the thickets to leave to US on 30 September. I didn't know how long will it take to have my visa with this new issue arising.
The consul gave me my passport back and a 221(g) letter saying that I must provide additional documentation. It was heartbreaking. I prepared so much for that moment...nobody told me that I needed that police certificate. I was in shock. I left the embassy very disappointed...
From that moment until now I am struggling to get my visa asap. Fortunately, Ireland Garda Station helped me a lot. They allowed me to send my scanned documents to them and they provided my police certificate in the next day. I was amazed,usually it takes more than three weeks. Now I am waiting for the document to arrive and send it back to the Embassy as fast as possible. Hope that I can make it for my flight on the 30th September.
Wish you guys to not go trough all this as I did. If you know you lived or traveled in a country more than a year in your lifetime, get yourself a police certificate prior to the interview... This saves you of unpleasant surprises like I had.
Oh,and I didn't paid any fees. Everything was paid when going trough NVC.
