My interview schedule was at 9am on April 3, 2017. When husband and I arrived there at 7:40AM, there was already a line of 6 people waiting. I went in with my husband (but I was interviewed alone) around 8:30 and finished around 9:45.
Interview Questions:
1. How did you guys meet?
2. When did you meet?
3. When did you start dating?
4. When did you guys move in together?
5. When did he propose?
6. Have you met any of his family or friends?
7. Where and when did you get married?
8. Why are you moving to the US?
Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The officer who interviewed me was very polite and friendly---no curveball questions. I also noticed that on top of the very thick pile of documents he was handling (my packets from USCIS and NVC combined) there was a piece of paper that pretty much summarized the entire story of our relationship. I even saw that my past visa tourist denial from 4 years ago was also indicated in the said summary (refused due to failure to establish roots to home country, completely understandable reason) but he didn't mention it at all. He was very straightforward but warm---this made the overall tone of the interview less stressful for me.
Aaand that's it! They didn't ask for anything in particular other than the original copies of my civil documents, and I didn't even get to open the three thick binders of documents I brought with me lol. :D |

So I entered the US via Los Angeles Airport (LAX) POE with my husband two days ago. I didn't have any troubles at all with the immigration. The officer at the counter basically took my packet and passport (and gave back my x-ray CD), then radioed for someone else to come pick us up and take us to secondary check. I was only asked when we got married--the rest of the time he was inside his office inputting stuff on his computer. After a few minutes he emerged from said room with instructions about green card mail, etc. He gave me a CR1 visa since we haven't been married for two years upon my entry.Â
I kinda hoped he would say the usual "Welcome to America!" final words, but he didn't which was a bit anti-climactic lol. He mumbled a short "welcome" and we were on our way out! He was polite and nice, though. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
