Consulate Review: Jamaica
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 8, 2017
Embassy Review : Got to the embassy at 5:45am. Interview was scheduled for 7am.

My husband and daughter accompanied me to the interview. Had the nicest consular officer. She was such a pleasant lady and greeted us like we've known her for a longtime.

Questions asked:
Who's filling for you?
Is this your guys baby? How old is she? Officer then smiled and said "awe she's so cute"
When/how did you meet?
If my husband was a citizen by green card or was born there?
If I've ever been arrested before?
What does co-sponsor do for work?
If I've met co-sponsor?
If I have kids?
How old they are and if they're citizens?
If I was previously married?
When my tourist visa expired?
If I've ever been outside of the country? And if it was for more than 6 months?
How long we've known each other?
If my old married last name was my maiden name?

She said everything looks good and she'll go ahead and approve the visa. I told her that I've taken an updated I-864 since my husband resigned after CC at NVC and she just said "no no, you're good, the old one is good enough".

While she was signing off the I-864 she skipped over some of our pictures etc. that we had submitted to USCIS, we apologized to her for the heavy stack of papers (easily over 500 pages of evidence), she responded by saying "no you're fine, we love lots of evidence, it's cute" and after every page she just kept saying "awe, so cute I love it".

The CO had our visa expedited and we were able to pick it up in 3 days.

When we went to collect my visa and the lady that issued it to me laughed and told me that I shouldn't have any problems at POE because instead of them giving me one packet they had to divide it in two because we had submitted a lot of evidence.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
