Embassy Review : |
Arrived at the embassy at 10.30am, was checked in but asked to return at 11am. When I did I was given the number I913, so I think there must be a sweet spot arrival time around 10.45am.
I waited about an hour to hand my documents in. The British-sounding guy was very nice and we had a little chat about Japan (where I used to live) and anime while he was organising my documents. I was asked for my passport and DS-160, my birth certificate, my two police certificates (UK and Japan) and the I-134. For supporting evidence I provided my fiancé's 2015 tax return.
A long lunchtime wait (maybe 1.5 hours) until I was called up for interview. The interview was incredibly quick and the IO was lovely. Questions I was asked:
- Where did you meet your fiancé?
- How long were you in Japan together?
- Did your fiancé return to the US when you left Japan?
- When did he go back to the US?
- Where does he live?
- What does he do?
- What do you do?
- When did you last speak to him?
Then she told me I was approved and returned my birth certificate and police certificates and said I'd get my passport back in 1-2 weeks.
Although it took a long time everything was very well run and not at all stressful. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
