I got my medical done in Montreal the same week as the interview. Medical was super easy, just random tests. They did x-rays, but the US Consulate did not need them at all. Also, they didn't mention drugs at all - other than asking if I was addicted to any.
Arrived at 8:30 on the spot because my interview was for 9AM. When we arrived there was about a dozen people in line, all looking quite anxious - HA! We got in and the guard directed us to a lady who took our confirmation page and passport; she took a minute looking it over and then gave us a ticket.
We got in and you go through a miniature airport security TSA-like place, where they tell you to take everything out of your pockets and that. We handed over our cell-phones, which they give you a little sticker to obtain them afterwards. You go through a door, down the stairs and into an elevator. Arrive in the main waiting area, wait for your number to be called - took us about half an hour. They do the initial check - through a window someone asks for a few documents and then has you sit down again. We waited another hour and I finally got called into the interview. It is technically a room, with a giant window they speak to you through. And yes - I GOT WINDOW 8! He greeted me with asking how my day is doing. "OK, let's get started." I remember it being NOT as I expected - very laid back and not really authoritarian, if that makes sense. He asked me - "where did you two meet?", then I paused, "Tinder... or what?" We laughed. He asked me about where I want to school in the states, that's it! Mind you - my fiance and I have a large age difference, yet it was never even brought up, at any-time (so, if you're in a similar boat - nothing to worry about). Before I knew it he handed me a sheet of paper that said, "Welcome to the USA" and I almost fainted. "That's it?! I was SO stressed!" I asked him for any way to receive my visa sooner - he gave me an orange sheet, which I gave to the guards coming in a few days later, after the weekend to try and pick up the visa early and skip shipping times. Don't say I told ya, but it saved us at least a few days! All-in-all, prepare yourself but I wouldn't fret so much. The medical and the interview are the last steps of the K1 process. If it's a genuine relationship and there's no criminal record or anything there's hardly anything to worry about. Good luck to all! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
