Embassy Review : I got to the embassy about an hour early and they let me straight in. Outside they ask for your appointment letter and your passport. You go through security that's similar to airport security then head right around the building and up the stairs. There's a desk as soon as you go in, where they'll ask you for your passport and appointment letter again and put stickers on it with the number you've to look out for on the screens.

The room you're in has a giant screen at the front with different visa information. It pings every time a new number comes up with the window number they've to go to. Windows 1-12 are next to the seating, windows 13+ are around the corner next to the door you came in. There are people there to help if you need it. There will be a big queue of people next to these windows, ignore them and go straight to your window.

Here they asked for my passport, birth certificate, police certificate, 1 passport photo which they scanned then gave back, i-134 and 1 supporting evidence of income. They let me choose which one I gave them. They also take your fingerprints and give you your chest x-ray from the medical.

After this you sit back down until your number comes up again to have your interview. You'll have your fingerprints verified and swear an oath before they ask anything. I was asked quite a lot of questions, though it was more of a conversation and the questions tended to run on from the last.

How did you meet?
You were quite far apart, did she live here or did you live there? (This seemed to be asked because we'd met online)
How many times have you seen each other since then?
How many times have you visited her?
How many times has she visited you?
What was the longest visit?
Have you ever had a US visa before?
Have either of you been married before?
Do either of you have children?
Have you met each other's friends and families?
What's her residence like? A house/apartment?
Where does she live?
Where exactly is that?
Have you been to Denver? Colorado Springs?
What's your plans for residence when you get there?
What do you do for work?
What does she do for work?

Then he told me he'd went ahead and issued the visa and I'd have it in 1-2 weeks. He gave me back a bunch of pictures from the original package and said to put them in an album or something! He gave me back my birth certificate but kept the police certificate.

From sitting down when I first got in I waited less than 5 minutes to hand in documents then about 25 minutes for my interview. I was out the embassy in 45 minutes!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
