Comments : CBP at Detroit airport is really pleasant. I was really surprised how great they were. It would probably be different story if you aren't legal or something.

Embassy Review : Interview was september 19th at 8:30.
I arrived at 7:50. Guard told me to come about 5 minutes before 8:30. So I did, they asked me for my name, checked the list and let me in. Then I gave all my stuff for xray, went through metal detector and I was searched. One guard was really great, other one was grumpy. So I went inside waiting room. There were only two of us. They called that guy and then me. Lady who I talked to was actually bosnian. She took my military paper, police cetificate, court record, proof that I'm not married, birth certificate and passport. She asked me few questions that were written on those papers, just to check, like my fathers name, where he lives, mothers last name and such. Maybe 5 questions.
Then she told me to sit down and wait to be called again. Few minutes later, American lady called. She was really pleasant, smiled all the time, just made that me much less nervous. She asked me english or bosnian, but do english even if it is not great. I had to take an oath and had my fingerprints taken. She asked me what is my fathers job, who he lives with, how many children does he have, where he lives and few more. Then she said "Congratulations, your visa is approved, I wish you all the best". She gave me yellow paper with passport pickup instructions. I thanked her and went to get my stuff from guards and that was it. I was at the gate at 8:22, I was out at same place at 8:57. Giving my stuff to guard and picking it up took the most of that time. Interview was actually really great!
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Detroit
Event Description
Entry Date : 2016-10-06
Embassy Review : I arrived at Detroit airport. First time in USA, with IR2 visa. You have 3 areas for each type of arrival as I noticed. I needed to take last one. There were about 10 checkpoints. I waited till one was available and mister at one of those checkpoints called me. I went to him, gave him my passport and envelope from embassy. He was really pleasant guy. He took my picture and my fingerprints. Then he took me with him to some room. There was some girl crying and russian guy talking with CBP lady on russian. Mister with beard and tattoo took my papers, typed something on computer and then he called me, gave me my passport and said good luck! And that was it. CBP at Detroit airport is really great!
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
