I Stayed at the Days Inn... Wouldn't recommend this particular location as there were many issues with our reservations as well as outlets in the room not working (had to charge my phone in the bathroom) If you already booked the Days Inn, the consulate is a 10 minute walk and very easy to locate.
My appointment was set for 7:40 am, and I arrived at 7 on the dot. There was already about 15 people waiting outside...sporadically. So since there was no set line, I kind of just made myself at home, closest to the door. There are a few doors to choose from and may confuse some people. Easy solution...Find the door that has the American eagle above it... Or find the door with lots of young anxious hopefuls holding packages. Around 7:30 a couple guards came outside and asked people to form an actual line. Perfect, I was already close to the door and became third in line. The guard asked for everyone to take out their DS-160 (paper with your picture and barcode which must be printed in colour) and our passports. Guard then proceeded to let four of us in at once. BEWARE... Do NOT bring any bags or purses... They will take you out of the line and tell you to walk to a location down the street to put your belongings in a locker (defeats the purpose of arriving early). Walked in, handed the lady those two documents... And then continued on to security. I had brought my cellphone which was fine... I turned it off and he collected it, and gave me a tiny slip to hold onto so that I could retrieve it after. I was sent downstairs to a big room... Thanks to visa journey, I located the elevator and sat RIGHT next to it. The room slowly filled up. A man came downstairs and handed those who were doing k visas a laminated paper with instructions on what to have ready (passport, passport pictures, and confirmation letter). About ten minutes later, he opened the elevator and a flood of people got on. Thanks AGAIN to visa journey, and my fiancé who reminded me a few times... I went to the back and faced the other way because I knew that the elevator door opened on the opposite side. Once off, I sat first row and waited ten minutes before my number was called. Super friendly staff. She asked for me to provide all my required documents and copies... For those who's petitioner has been previously married... Make sure you print a separate copy of their divorce decree if you don't want them keeping it. It's a dollar a page for them to print it off if you don't. After she retrieved all necessary documents and confirmed my address as well as my fiancés, she took a scan of my fingerprints. I was then given a paper with a number on it and was asked to go back to my seat. After about 15 minutes, I was called to a window where my interview took place. Super nice guy... Asked me how long I've known my fiancé, when's the last time we saw each other, how did we meet, and if I've ever been in trouble with the law. THATS IT! Oh, And I swore to tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help me American eagle. He handed me a piece of paper... I told him to welcome me to America... He obliged... And then I walked my happy ass out of there before 9am. On to our next journey... Good Luck to you all. I know this was a lot to read, but I'm sure this will help calm some of you down and also answer some questions. The end!... Or for us, our beginning... |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
