Comments : We arrived at 9:05 am for a 9:15 am interview (Fairfax VA USCIS). We were the next couple called in at 9:10 am. Our interview took one hour. We received a continuance letter. We were not told why, only to receive a RFE to ask for my original birth certificate. Oops! We received the approval notice about one week after I sent the birth certificate in.

Comments : This was a combined I-751 and N-400 interview. My husband went into the Washington Field Office in Fairfax, VA. I waited in the car in a nearby parking lot. There was absolutely no one in the waiting room. They asked him the general I-751 questions (where did you meet your spouse?, etc.) but did not ask me to join the I-751. They also did not ask for any of the supporting evidence we had prepared to show continuing proof of valid marriage subsequent to sending in the I-751 packet. They then moved into the citizenship questions as well as the reading and writing. He passed and received the Form N-652 Naturalization Interview Results saying that his N-400 application has been recommended for approval. He was in and out in about 90 minutes. With respect to the oath ceremony, we live in DC. So the oath is given by a sitting judge. The standard date is the second Tuesday of the month for oath ceremonies -- pre-covid. However, they are now scheduling smaller ceremonies more frequently. There were 12 at my husband's oath ceremony. The oath ceremony is at 333 Constitution Avenue, N.W. It took 3 hours, much longer than expected, as the USCIS officer took time to review each of the 12s documents, etc.

Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany

Event Description

Embassy Review : I don't have a complete account, but here is a summary. My fiancé arrived early. He left everything at the Frankfurt train station but his paperwork. The consular officer asked a few of the basic questions already written up here for Frankfurt. Then the visa was approved, and the officer said "I'm proud that you will be a U.S. citizen one day".

My fiancé was dumbfounded, as the two interviewees before him were denied. As he is Syrian, I surely thought that we would be asked for additional paperwork or his application would go to administrative processing. His visa arrived today, three days later. So this part of the process went so much more smoothly than I anticipated. Good luck to all others!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
