Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 12, 2019
Embassy Review : Echo the previous Mumbai K1 review in all respects.

The only details I will add are:

1. The visa interview is held by the officer assisted by a local language interpreter, if necessary.

2. My fiance was asked many questions about why she, an unmarried woman was marrying a twice divorced man. And also why not get married here in India if our families are here. The answer she gave was that she wants to live as a couple after being married and marrying inside the USA will enable us to live together immediately after the wedding in the USA. Not so if we get married in India and the she has to wait a year or so for the IR visa. The officer was satisfied with this response.

3. After a successful visa grant the following piece of paper is given to the applicant. See this image: https://tinyurl.com/yxx4p7hw

Hi I had a question about providing originals at the consulate interview. So my fiance is from India , Mumbai and is a divorcee. During filing i129f we submitted divorce decree so now during final interview does he need marriage certificate too original or just the divorce decree . Would appreciate if you could answer

bring both, why not. usually won't be asked but good to have original + 1 copy.

So my fiance doesn't have the original of marriage certificate but he has the divorce decree original which we submitted to USCIS . So I am little concerned what if he only submitted the divorce decree .

Take what you have. It shouldn't matter I believe.

Thank you for your reply. My fiance's visa is on 20th March so was little worried.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
