We had my husbands interview at the Houston office today. Office wasn’t empty but not packed either. A lot of people seemed to be working in the back. It was scheduled for 8:40 with ISO #7 Slaughter. She wasn’t extremely pleasant but not rude either. She called us back at 9:36 to doors by window 14 and looked at her watch and said we were late and throwing her off. I was confused and told her we had been waiting for awhile. I said over 30 minutes but it was really over an hour. She said something about 8:40 and coming out for us and we just apologized confused as to what she was talking about bc we thought upon the front desk check in with letter they notified her of our arrival. I’m still not certain what happened with that. I was just hoping she didn’t hold it against us when we were really there 10 minutes early. When we arrived in her office she swore us in with the oath before she had us sit down. She asked for identification and proof of marriage documents. We gave her drivers licenses, passports, and his EAD combo card. I had everything they could want as proof but after I gave her joint bank and joint credit statements she stopped me before I could give her auto, life, or medical insurance proof, taxes, pay stubs, W2s, photos, or originals of anything else. She said that was enough bc we had a child together. As she flipped through the file I saw she had daughters birth certificate, application, marriage license copy, old medical, etc. She asked for new medical opened it putting red checks in places and said everything looked good with the medical. She asked him his birth date, place of birth, last date he entered the US, and the place he entered. He was nervous and stumbled bc he didn’t remember after our DR visit he came back through Chicago not directly to Houston. She seemed satisfied enough. Asked were we still married and did we live together. Then she said everything looked good but she was missing the original visa application file she would have to request from National Visa Center. Said there was nothing else needed from us at this time bc she needed that file to make her decision. Said either a decision letter or additional interview request letter would come in the mail and then gave us a printout indicating the same. All in all it wasn’t a bad experience but it’s a little annoying how there is no phone communication, everything is through the mail, and it’s still a waiting game. To me why schedule us for the interview 2 times if you still didn’t have a necessary file to make a decision. So now we wait! This is for a K1 AOS PD: 03/03/2017. |
