Comments : Biometrics held at ASC Grand Rapids MI. Initial Interview Date notice received on 11-22-2008 - to go to USCIS Office in Detroit, MI. As of Dec-22 will've been married 2 years... so despite late int date I should get unconditional 10-yr card. Must ask for stamp as I'm travelling to UK on Feb-26! :-o Had interview on 2/24 - arrived 40 minutes early... interview lasted 10 minutes. Usual oath and 'no' answers. Only wanted joint bank statement, health insurance documents and wedding pictures (to the ceromony we had in the UK). Had a feeling the pictures did it. Said we were approved, and then I sprung the travel plans on her - flying to the uk on 2/26! Mentioned I was going to fly during Xmas but I didn't becuase of knee problems... which is just as well as she said the K3 visa isn't a multiple entry visa?!? I'm sure it is. Anyway, got temp I-551 stamp. :-)) We were the only couple there dressed casually... in our Northern Michigan winter gear. Celebrated by buying stuff from Pewabic Pottery. Then drove back to Traverse City - glad we didn't have to spend another night in the Hooker Hotel, sorry Red Roof Inn.

Comments : EAD applied for concurrently with AOS. I was suddenly able to view my EAD status online on Nov 17 - card production ordered on Nov 13! Card received on Nov 18... no approval notice yet :-)) Hmm, at the BIO they asked me to write my name on an electronic pad - wrote in block capitals. This now appears on my EAD card... didn't realise 'write' means 'sign' in the US :-))

POE Review: Detroit
Event Description
Entry Date : 2008-06-21
Embassy Review : The immigration hall was very busy and the "ushers" were moving people from one queue to another... by the time I got to the front of my queue I was feeling sorry for the people stood behind me as I thought I would take up the IO's time (entering on a K3).
The IO went through by stuff - passport, visa, white i-94 and MBE (didn't want the x-ray). He then took me to a side room and passed the stuff to another IO. I was directed to a row of chairs in front of the other IO who was sitting behind a long counter with around 5 PCs on it. She was tapping away on one of them. Another IO in the room was getting very irate with another "customer" - from what I could gather he was a Brit passport holder who was naturilzed after being granted asylum and was now trying to get into the States... to join his wife without the proper visa.
After 10 minutes I was called up to the desk and after a minute or two of her bending my passport back and forth, she stamped the page opposite the visa as well as the i-94. Passed the passport back to me and I was pointed to the door to continue on my way.
So all in all around 20 minutes long.
Harassment Level : Low

Embassy Review : Had interview on 2/24 - arrived 40 minutes early. Told by the guards to place interview letter in tray. After a minute or two we fond the tray. Interview lasted 10 minutes. Usual oath and 'no' answers (do you have plans to overthrow the government, etc). Only wanted joint bank statement, health insurance documents and wedding pictures (to the ceromony we had in the UK) - no copies of anything submitted, not even to look at the originals. Then drove back to Traverse City - glad we didn't have to spend another night in the Hooker Hotel, sorry Red Roof Inn. Think the office will be relocated soon from Mt Elliott Street. PS. Have to use the car park acoss the street @ $7. PPS. Citizenship application to be submmited in 3 years time :-))
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
