Local US CIS Office Review: Washington DC
Review Topic: cis_topic
Event Description
Review Date : April 20, 2017
Embassy Review : Arrived about 15 minutes before our interview time at noon, checked in.

Waited about 2 and a half hours, until an officer called us in. He said that he was doing this interview as a backup for the officer that was supposed to do our interview, but he had had a problem with the previous interview and couldn't attend us on time.

The interview lasted about an hour, the officer spent most of the time (about 45 minutes I guess) reviewing and putting together our file, because it had gotten all messed up, and complaining because that was supposed to be his interview-free day, when he is supposed to review and approve/deny the files from the previous week, so his work was being delayed.

He asked us questions about our residence location, looking at our drivers licenses, he asked about how we met, when we started dating, when it got serious, when we moved together, when we decided to marry and why, if our respective family knew each other, he looked at the pics we brought and the ones that were already on the file, but didn't take any new ones.

He asked my wife about a picture, asking her the details, where, when, who, etc... It was a picture of My dad's wedding in Spain, so that was easy.

Then he asked to give him all the joint assets proof, so we did give joint insurance, bank account, drivers license with the same address, joint credit cards. We didn't have lease or mortgage because we live in a house that belongs to my wife's best friend, and we don't have a written agreement, and we explained that.

After that, he said everything looked ok and that we should receive the Green Card in a couple of weeks, but it actually took 10 weeks.
Harassment Level : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
