POE was mostly seamless, except for the officer who would not speak to or answer fiance's greetings. Fiance realized after handing over packet to officer that the Medical/Xray cd that was not enclosed in the packet was still in his bag. Stated to officer "Sorry, I forgot to hand you this with the packet" and he handed it over, and officer responded, "Don't speak to me." Other than that, no issues. |

Embassy Review : |
My fiance just finished his interview at the Ankara Embassy this morning. We walked up there at 7:30 am for his 8:15 interview. It's not necessary to go so early as they make everyone wait across the street until their interview time is called. Those with 8:15 interviews were called to line up just after 8:00. U.S. citizens are not allowed to enter to attend the interview with their fiance, and you cannot bring your phone inside the Embassy. He entered through the outside security around 8:25. Once inside, they gave him a number, asked if he wanted to do the interview in Turkish or English (he chose English), took his medical file, and told him to wait. After about one hour, they called his number and he went up to the window. He said they were really nice and they asked him: how we met, about our brothers and sisters, have we met each other's parents, and what are our wedding plans. They did not ask to see any additional evidence or photos. I was waiting at the hotel and he returned by 10:15 to give me the good news that he was approved. We got a piece of paper saying "Congratulations, your visa is approved!" with instructions for picking up his passport and visa packet in 5-7 business days. Overall, a very good experience. |

Embassy Review : |
We had our AOS interview (adjusting from K1) yesterday morning at 8 am. We arrived at 7:30, and it took about 10-15 minutes to go through security and check-in. We got called in from the waiting area about 5 minutes after our scheduled time. The officer was strictly business and very difficult to read. Not at all mean, but not warm. He wasn't unfriendly, but I went in fairly relaxed and ended up being tense the whole time we were in there.
We were in his office for 45 minutes. He asked us questions about how we met, and about my trips to visit him in Turkey. Very detailed questions....why were you going there, how many days did you stay, etc. Also asked about meeting each other's families, lots of questions about our weddings, etc. He also asked all the questions from the I-485 form regarding whether my husband has ever committed any crimes or intends to in the future, and asked many additional questions about his military service. He also asked and took notes about any trips/vacations we've taken since we've been married, including where, how many days, who else was with us, etc. He took detailed notes on everything we discussed.
Then he went through 99% of the evidence I had prepared. He looked through each joint account document in detail and even asked us specific questions about our apartment lease and taxes. I had received account summaries for our joint accounts from the bank which show current balances as well as our average daily balance for the past 12 months, but he still asked if I had brought full statements showing deposits and withdrawals....I had to say no but said I could easily pull that up on my phone if he would like, but he declined. I had 64 pages of photos and facebook posts from the last year and a half and he looked through those and asked to keep them. He kept everything and hole-punched and added them to our file while we talked.
The only thing he didn't look at or take was the stack of pay stubs I had brought since so much time has passed since we submitted the affidavit of support. I offered these more than once but he said he already had enough information on that in the file. If you're questioning how much evidence to bring, I thought I was over-prepared, but he took almost all of it.
In the end, he walked us out and said we would make a decision in a few days. I was disappointed....thought I know its 50/50 whether you get a decision on the spot, I was really hoping for one.
45 minutes later (we weren't even home yet--we had stopped at the grocery store), I got 4 text messages saying our case had been updated online. Immediately checked (while holding my breath) and our status had changed to "New card being produced." So I guess we're approved!!!!!!!
Overall, though it was far from relaxing, I can't say anything negative about the office or staff. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
