Embassy Review : My experience with the medical and interview process in Vancouver!
My medical exam with Dr. Cheema was on Thursday, September 3, 10:00am. Overall it was painless and fairly quick, I read other reviews that cover it pretty in depth, so was prepared! My chest xray and blood test down the street took a bit longer, but I was done with everything by about 12:00.

My interview at the consulate was Sept. 8th, 8:30am. I arrived at 8:00, handed my medical result envelope, DS-160, and passport to the first guard, who looked them over and handed them back, then checked in my phone and had my packet searched before I went inside. Once inside and up the stairs I went through the metal detector and answered all the security questions (a breeze as long as you don't bring anything not allowed!) and then was escorted up the elevator. There was another applicant at window B, so I didn't have to flip the switch, I handed the lady my DS-160 and passport and sat until she called my name. waited only about 10 minutes until she called me back, and she went through all my paperwork, which was all in order EXCEPT: My police certificate apparently was run without my middle name, so I would have to get a new one done with my middle name added and send it in. This also happened to the girl right before me, and is apparently a fairly common problem, so check your police certificates people! Once she had gone through everything, she gave me a number, and I joined the 20+ people sitting and waiting. I waited for what seemed like ages, sitting and panicking over what delays this police certificate issue was going to cause! when my number was finally called, I went up to the counter, where my interviewer gave me a pamphlet to read while he went through all my paperwork and typed away on the computer. I then scanned my fingerprints and explained my police certificate situation to him. He asked about 7 questions throughout the process, all of them fairly nonchalant and casual, about what he did for a living, how old we were when we met and joked a little bit about how we had fireworks for our engagement (July 4). The whole thing was very relaxed, he didn't even glance at any evidence or ask and real questions aside from reaffirming what he had in front of him. He said that everything was fine aside from the police check, and sent me back to window B again. There was a line in front of the window, so I sat and waited, and she called my name right after the first person was finished (thank goodness). She gave me instructions for sending in a new certificate, and said that once they receive it they would take 3-5 days to process. I left to go back down the elevator, and ended up around the corner and had to exit and go around in order to pick up my phone.I was out of the building by 10:30, so a total of 2.5 hours total for the whole process.

Overall a really easy process with a lot of waiting and sweating. I'm glad I didn't bring a binder full of useless information, as every other K1 applicant there did, and not one of them opened it!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
