I'm the petitioner, but I attended my fiance's interview in Montreal so I'll be providing the review for him.
The interview was scheduled for Wednesday, Feb 3rd at 9:30 AM. Crappy weather, so we were happy that they let us in when we showed up at 8:30 AM. We got number 19 and went through the usual security checkpoint and then headed to floor 19.
We sat in the middle section for probably about 45 mins - apparently we could have come earlier for our 9:30 AM, but we thought if we showed up too early we would get turned away.
The first kiosk was very brisk - "where's this doc, where's this?" Most adrenaline filled 10 minutes pulling out everything. Weirdly they only wanted the 2014 tax return for my I-134 and none of the rest of my supporting documents.
We waited for another hour until my fiance was interviewed. He said he was asked the standard questions of:
* How did you meet?
* Who typically travels to visit the others?
* What does your fiancee do for a living?
* What has your fiancee been doing since you started dating? (essentially a timeline question)
He was approved after about 7 minutes of chatting with the interviewer! Everyone who had gone before us had also mentioned that the Interviewer was very kind.
Also, my fiance was told that he should be getting his visa within 2 weeks, so we'll see how that goes! |

Embassy Review : |
We crossed at the Peace Bridge on a Saturday around 3:30 PM. I had rented a car in Buffalo and drove across in the morning, picked up my fiance, and then we drove back with his stuff in the car.
There were maybe 5 other cars in other lanes. PRO TIP: Go as far to the right as possible when arriving at the USA CBP plaza - the area where you will need to interview in is a building at the right, and if you go to the left area of the plaza, you'll have to cut across a LOT of lanes. Make your life easy!
When we rolled up, I immediately identified that my fiance was activating his K1 and had his packet. The CBP officer asked what was being brought in. After about a minute of him typing away, he has a big smile on his face and says "THIS IS IT? ARE YOU READY?" Very friendly and happy - reminded us about getting married in 90 days and that my fiance wouldn't be able to leave for a long while. He then radioed secondary and we were told to enter Door #2. The first CBP officer holds on to both of your passports - you get them back later.
We waited in secondary for about 10 minutes before my fiance & I were called. Standard questions were asked - "Did you get into any trouble since you were issued the packet?" " Where are you going to live?" "Is it a house or apartment?" "Who owns the house?" "Can you prove where you live?". Fingerprints were taken, a picture was taken, and then we were told to have a seat.
About 5 minutes later, we were called back. The right hand finger prints were taken again and another photo was taken. We were told to have a seat while the status updated.
About 5 more minutes and we were called back. "Congratulations, welcome to the USA" was said and my fiance had his physical I-94 stapled in his passport next to his K1 visa. We were sent on our way!
NO harassment, easy process, and we were in and out in about 35 minutes. |

Timeline Comments: 1Wow your I129 f went through quickly!!! Did you do all the paperwork alone?
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
