Consulate Review: Malaysia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 16, 2016
Embassy Review : We had to reschedule our interview date from 1/5 @ 12:30PM to 3/8 @ 800Am due to medical testing needing 8 weeks. We just e-mailed the embassy about the delay and they e-mailed us a new date a time and told us to include this with the appointment letter.

My fiancee attended the interview with me as well, without a problem. An American passport allowed us to queue for the short line. We then took a seat and were assigned a number. We were called up a total of four times.

The first time we were called to the counter, we presented the following information:
1. One color photograph
2. Passport delivery confirmation (Visa Payment)
3. Birth certificate (Copy and original)
4. Petitioner's Affidavit
5. Petitioner's Most Recent Tax Return (Did not ask for Employment letter even though it stated as requirement)
6. Medical Report (Mine was delivered to embassy due to medical delay)

Other documents were not applicable due to this being the first marriage for the both of us and neither of us have children. I was also given the domestic violence form, and advised to read as question might be asked on it during interview.

After this we sat down and waited to be called again.

The second call to the counter I was given my x-ray and then on the third call to counter fingerprints were done. We were then told to wait for our last call which would be the interview.

The interview was short, about 10 minutes. You have to give the oath first and then we were asked a few questions. We were only asked 3. She noted that my fiance was in attendance which i think helped a bit. I believe she took this as proof of relationship and did not ask for any evidence even though we were required to bring. Questions asked:
1. How did you meet your fiance?
2. Tell me about you guys, how did you know you would want to spend your life together.
3. What are your marriage plans for in the U.S.

At this point she told us the visa was approved and the lady helping in the waiting room congratulated us!!

The visa arrived at the pickup location two days later.

Overall the process went smoothly even though we had delays on our end.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
