Comments : Interview - Prepped and gathered big pile of paperwork. Vermont probably smallest service center in US, and Officer was watching my wife and I through window as we waited 15 min to go in. We expected both of us to go in the interview and paid for phone interpreter to be waiting if needed. He called wife in only, had his own interpreter on phone, and asked her 5-6 questions - 8 minutes max! He did not want my pile of paperwork or to talk with me. Questions pertained to both of our children. Wife mentioned he commented on the quality of the content and organization of our applications throughout our entire process. Our situation is pretty solid- we been married 4 years and own a home together, etc.. Officer could not stamp her expired passport (covid trip cancelation issue) and said 10 year GC come within a month. Happy wife and Done.

Embassy Review : So why did we go Laos with a Thai citizen? Initial thought was my fiancee's mother lived near and the Laos Embassy would likely be so much more calm and personable. I went with her and Overall... it worked out very well being able to see her mother and the Embassy in Laos was so better at answering emails than the Thai US embassy. Probably the negatives about going to Laos were Laos itself and the cost, as it was a bit more money for travel and me crossing the border ($35 x 2 trips) but not that bad. We did her medical in Vientiane 2 days before interview which went well but almost $300 and took 3 hours. I like Thailand much better than Laos although Laos does have some good bread.

The Interview: The apt. was at 8 , we got there at 7:40 and they let her in at 7:50. HER! they did not let me in the building and in fact kicked me off the property to be relegated to a shack shop across the street with crazy strong Laos coffee. Hotter than the surface of the sun it was that day, and 2 hours later she came out smiling saying OOOK! She said out of the 2 hours, the interview took 10 minutes with A friendly US embassy staff. She does not speak english so will but they pulled it off. She said to be asked things about Me and our relationship.
-When did you meet?
-how many times he come to see you?
-couple questions about my daughter?
-what does the petitioner (me) do for work?
-what do i does the petitioner (me) do for fun?
-what makes him special to you?
-When will you go to him?

the embassy interviewer was very impressed with the level of organization we had. I have to thank the VJ community for this as I worked very hard on our packet with purely the guidance of this great community. the interviewer was also took very seriously several dated cards i had sent her; cheesy birthday cards and such over the past 2 years.

She has to go back next week to get the stamp in her visa. Its all very real now! GL all.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
