Event Description

Embassy Review : My scheduled embassy interview was 730am and when I got there at 630am, there's a long line already. After a few minutes of waiting, we were told to fall in line to be admitted inside the embassy.

Make sure to present the first page of you appointment confirmation, DS-160 confirmation page along with your passport. Also if you have your fiance with you, just show them his/her US passport so he/she can accompany you inside at all steps of processing your visa.

*Security check: No electronics, sharp objects, food and drinks..

*Ticket booth: for K1 visa applicants, just hand your appointment confirmation and DS-160 confirmation page to the lady at the booth and she'll assign a number for you; enter door 2 and drop your appointment confirmation with your number at window 38.

We were told to go outside the office and wait at the chairs 'til our numbers are called for the next step.

*Step 1: Data Entry. We lined up from the waiting area outside to proceed with Step 1. It wasn't a long wait and from what i remember, I was just asked about my full name, birth date and US address. The "Orange Girl" wasn't so nice and she keeps on shouting and being mean to anyone else. Just follow what she says and you'll be a-okay!

*Step 2: Finger scanning. This was the worst part of the process for me. We had to stand and wait for an hour just to get our fingers scanned. There was a long line and there were only two windows that accommodates everyone. I think what made it take so much time is 'coz the staff at the windows leave their station leaving the long line to pile up even more. The orange girl wasn't much of a help too. She's pulling other people on the line to go ahead and proceed to the window. She didn't follow the line. Finally, after an hour, time to go to Step 3.

*Step 3: Initial Screening. The documents asked were: Old Passport with my expired US visas, New Passport, DS-160 with queue number, Birth Certificate, Cenomar, NBI and I think that's it. We were asked some questions ('coz i was with my fiance) My fiance's name, where, when and how we met, evidence of our relationship, how long have we known each other, how long have we been dating, have i been out of the country besides US.. That's the most of what i can remember. And, off to Step 4!

*Step 4: Oath Taking. aah, chairs! Finally! (I wouldn't mind waiting if we were just seated all the time. haha!) Not much of a long wait. I was assigned to the Lady American Officer and she's so nice! Raised my right had, said the english oath and had my right hand scanned.

*Step 5: Interview. I didn't mind waiting 'coz we were seated. hehe. I was a little nervous but there was a TV at the waiting area so my mind was somewhow distracted. hehe. American Consul, I remember we were assigned to Window 59. The CO was really nice. He gave me a pamphlet for domestic violence. He told my fiance it's alright weather he wants to stay at the interview or go take a seat at the waiting area. My fiance stayed. But the CO said he'll be asking me the questions and only I can answer his questions. He didn't ask much all i can remember was: "How did you two meet?" and then he said "I was just making sure all your papers are complete 'coz I have nothing to ask anymore, everything looks great and Congratulations!" He didn't ask for any other documents like I-134. "You may proceed to the Releasing Window."

My fiance and I were so happy! We didn't expect it's gonna be that light. (I was so paranoid and was thinking the worst and I'm just really glad it wasn't so bad.) I think being with my fiance helped a lot too. What more proof do they need if my fiance is there to support me at the interview.

Step 6: Releasing. We were just asked if I already set up the delivery of my passport and that's it. We're done!

I asked the lady at the window how long before i get my passport in the mail and she said it's uncertain. It depends and they can't tell me specific number of days.

Waiting game again 'til my passport with approved K1 visa arrives. Yay!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
