Embassy Review : |
After reading so many helpful and useful reviews on here I thought I would update my experience.
My interview was on Thursday 21st April, scheduled interview time was 1pm. I arrived at the embassy about 11:45am it was sunny so thought I would get there early and enjoy the sunshine and also meet with a fellow VJ-er. Embassy staff came out just before Midday, checked my passport/letter and I went through security, advised to take off all jewellery before walking through the scanner.
After this you walk around to the right and up some steps into the building, there you hand in your letter and get assigned your number. The waiting room was bigger than I expected very long with a big screen on the wall. There are a number of windows reminded me of a bank/post office.
About 12:20pm I got called to hand in my documents they took:
Birth Certificate
Police Certificate
Affidavit of Support
Visa sized photo
Courier Receipt
They took my fingerprints - all of this part took about 5 minutes.
Back to the waiting room for a little wait.
I got called for my interview at 1pm - met a nice American lady - I seemed to be asked a lot of questions more than I was expecting:
Tell me how you met?
How do you maintain a relationship?
When did you get engaged? Where?
Have either of you been married? When did Josh get divorced?
When did your relationship start?
How many times have you been to visit?
Tell me about your wedding?
Are your family going to the wedding?
Has he met your family?
Has he been here to visit?
Where will you live?
What's the age difference between you?
When's his birthday?
Then she told me I had been approved and that I should get my passport back within 2 weeks.
That was it, although I was anxious and stressed about the whole experience it was okay and I am glad I had a fellow K1 applicant to talk to. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
