Comments : Received letters than Green card was approved and a card was ordered, then another to say it was sent. Was very unclear that it was the actual Green Card as I was not expecting it before the employment authorization, but the numbers matched only the AOS receipt so after checking online if this was possible, it appears that it can happen without an interview, so just waiting to see if this is really legit. USCIS status for that I485 receipt number does say "approved" so hopeful :)

Green Card Received :
Comments : It's been a year since filed. First received letter giving 12 months extension of gc then another letter extending it 6 more months. Received notice that biometrics were not required. Website shows no change/no data to show. Was able to travel to Morocco and return to US with no issues, other than leaving there (guy didnt understand documents and didn't want to let Jordi go, but another told him to). Just waiting and hoping to get through. Crazy part is in 2 months he will be eligible to apply for citizenship. Hate to do it after all the money spent for this gc. We will see.
Got green card in mail, no interview. Decided to go ahead and file for citizenship, since travel with Moroccan passport is not easy, even with a green card.

Oath Ceremony : 2019-12-12
Comments : It is all over. Finally! So much money and time and stress. Now in the process of getting a passport in time for international travel. They don't tell you how much more complicated getting a name change is. How you have to wait and go to a courthouse oath ceremony (luckily they do it once a month in Orlando, some places are longer/less often), then get to the social security office, then the DMV (but not the same day) before you can even apply for a passport. The way they just take the green card and add it to all the others when you sign in feels like they are holding a huge piece of your life like it is nothing. The judge did a great job though. He made people feel better about "renouncing their home country". It was like he was trying to overcome the "presidential message" and letting people know they ARE important to this country and they should still be proud of where they come from. That was the hardest part about my ceremony 4 years ago.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
