Event Description

Embassy Review : Our interview was at 7:15. We arrived to the Embassy at 6:00 and there was already a line with at least 5 to 6 people there. At 7 some people at the gate started to check the P4 letters and the medical exam envelopes. They gave us a number and told us to get in. (Make sure you are not carrying cellphones, cameras or any electronic device). We were told to wait for our number to be called to present all the documents to a window, which we did. After this we were instructed to sit down and wait for my name to be called. Almost an hour later we were called. CO asked us in which language we preferred the interview and my husband said English. Interview went fine. She asked me questions like, how we met, how many kids I had and their ages, date of my divorce, if I had ever lived or been in the States, etc. Then she asked questions to my husband about his previous marriage. Then she asked us for two copies of his divorce decree. Unfortunately we only had one, and she said another one was needed for my son's file. She gave us a yellow paper (221 g) and advised us to take the missing document to the nearest Cargo Expreso office and mail it, which we did the next day.
By nine thirty, we were done.
A few pointers: 1. Organize your documents with tabs, it makes them easier to identify and have them handed over. Also you only need one copy of the police records and court records. Save the second one before you get to the window. 2.Use transparent plastic folders. These are more likely to fit through the narrow space at the bottom of the window between you and the CO. 3. Paste your pictures in pieces of paper and add a description to each. Also paste them in order of time. It makes it easier and faster for the CO to go through them, and looks neater. 4. Relax. Its more like a conversation than anything.5. Wear business like attire. Maybe it wont mean anything to the CO but it will make you feel more secure. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes. (My personal opinion here, you can discard this one if you wish.)
CO was nice and polite, and very helpful at explaining the next steps we needed to take.
Rating : Good
