Consulate Review: South Africa
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 8, 2015
Embassy Review : I had my K-1 visa interview on the 8th of December 2015

I got there and my name was not on the list despite being given a letter stating my interview would be on the 8th of December. I showed my letter to the lady who was calling out names outside of the embassy to make sure there wasn't any one there who didn't need to be. She let me through.

I got inside, took a number after showing the lady at the desk that I was in fact meant to be there on the 8th. I sat down. The staff at the Johannesburg Consulate are very friendly.
When it came time for my number to be called the lady who I'd shown my letter to came up to me and asked if she could have it because I'd actually been booked for the 15th. I gave her my letter and then a short while later was called up to the counter.

The lady at the counter was very pleasant and just asked for all of my evidence. I gave it all to her and she then took my finger prints as per usual. She then sent me to pay. I didn't have enough money on my credit card so I had to leave the consulate, they let you go and Draw cash at Sandton City. I came back and paid and was shortly there after called up to the teller for my interview.

I was interviewed by a very nice lady who had in fact interviewed my entire family for their visitors visas. My visa was then approved and I was told to come back after I receive the Email.

My overall experience of the Johannesburg consulate is a very good one.
The staff are polite, the security is good. A brilliant overall experience

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
