Comments : Active duty military serving overseas. We haven’t applied for an expedited processing but somehow got approved and received GC in 2months.
We have children together, tons of financial ties in between, on military orders and command sponsored where we are stationed at. Almost all family members came to visit us here therefore many photos etc. They were all included in our package.

Consulate Review: Ankara, Turkey

Event Description

Embassy Review : I had my interview on Jan.11. My appointment was at 8 am. and I appeared in front of the embassy at around 7.45 am and there were only 5-6 people before me. They started to let people inside the building one by one. Passing through x-ray screening took about 15 mins, mostly by waiting in the line. A lady asked which type of visa I was applying for and she gave me a number to follow. 15 mins later my number was called and an officer asked me to submit my medical report, passport and other documents which was asked me to bring in the email that the embassy sent to me 5 days prior to my interview date. She then told me to keep waiting for the next call of my number. Second call was like after a 1,5 hrs wait. A really nice lady conducted the interview with me and my 5 years old son. She asked my fiance's name, how we met,his profession, my profession, where we are gonna live. She talked to my son as well and she exactly knew how to communicate with a child and get the right answers therefore my ultra shy boy act pretty cooperative and answered in English. She asked him if he loved my fiance and if he was excited to go. It took about 10 mins. She told me that there was no reason for her not to approve it and I would receive our passports back in the courier in 3-5 business days. She kept my valid US tourist visa and said she will cancel it and issue new visas to our passports. She said "congratulations" and wished us a happy marriage and we left. Overall, it was a pretty good experience.
There was a kids' corner with toys and kid size table&chairs in the waiting area which kept my 5 years old busy for the entire time and he wasn't bored at all. 5* for this!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
