Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 27, 2015
Embassy Review : Initial entry into the consulate was a bit disorganized, but once we sorted it out, the remainder of the experience was pretty smooth. Just a quick note for those of you applying for an immigrant visa, stay to the left line for entry. The right side is for the non-immigrant applicants. Once my wife was through security, she was directed to the consulate offices on the third floor via elevator. Initially starting in area A where she was assigned a number. Her number was called and they collected the original documents in area A.

When this was completed, she was directed to area B, where the interviews take place. Her number was posted on a screen above her window. When called, she approached and was asked the following questions;

Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth?
Who filed the petition on your behalf?
Where did you meet your husband?
When did you get married?
How many people attended your wedding?
Do you have any pictures of you and your husband?
Do you think your age difference is and issue?
Are you a member of the communist party?
Have you ever been a member of the communist party?
Congratulations, you are approved!

Once through security, she exited within 90 minutes. Pretty effective process in my opinion...
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
