Consulate Review: Belmopan, Belize
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 3, 2016
Embassy Review : Our Interview went well. When arriving at the Belizean embassy you give your name at the window outside, they check you in, then you wait in line to enter through the security building. When going through security, it's similar to airport security/metal detector. One thing I want to mention is DO NOT use paperclips or binder clips on your documents. I had all my documents organized with several clips and they had to take every single one off. Also, to make it easier, bring as little as possible with you into the embassy. Once cleared you then proceed to a second building where the interview is held.

Everyone arrives around the same time and they call you up to the window (there are 5 windows) by name, it seemed to be in order of arrival. First visit to a window, is for document collection. We were fortunate and were only asked for the documents on our P4 letter. I did overhear one gentleman get put into A/P for not having his sponsor's W2's so be sure to bring everything just to be on the safe side.
After document collection, you sit back down for a few minutes then are called up to a window for you interview. There is glass between you and the interviewer and if you can not hear them they will turn on the Microphone. Nothing is private. The room is so small that you can pretty much hear what is going on with everyone's case. I tried not to listen to the questions my husband was being asked because it was making me so nervous, so I focused on the other people being interviewed. After a few questions, Visa was approved and he was told to return, in a week, on Tuesday for Visa pick up. All Immigrant Visas are picked up on Tuesday's at 2pm.

Visa pick up was easy, they hand them out to everyone as a group, and thoroughly explain everything in the packet and what to expect at Port of Entry, which I thought was very nice and helpful.

POE was last night March 2, in Baltimore. Everything went smoothly, we were in and out in about 20 minutes. Our bags weren't even ready to be picked up yet.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
