Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Orlando
POE Date : 2016-03-21
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : 4 hour wait in line due to 2 customs officers at the line, and 1 in the back office. There were over 200 people in the line.

I was allowed to remain with Aisha, even to the office. The intake processor was a backup who was supporting the front line. Very friendly. Emphasized that we had to marry within 90 days, and the visa was a one time entry use only.

Having me present actually seemed to benefit the officer, as it alleviated concern about translation. Orlando appears to be a English/Spanish only (or heavy) entry. So he and I spoke 99% of the time. The only question ask of Aisha was the name of her parents.

All other questions I answered.

Comments : Good Luck!
I was getting worried that they lost the mail. But finally got the NOA1 for the AOS.

Moving along to the Biometric stage. I'm not even checking on the progress any longer. It will happen.

10 Sept 11: Cards arrived.

In Advance of the cards only one approval letter was provided for Niman. Nothing came for Aisha. I suppose that doesn't matter, because the cards came. There is 2 year categorical requiring that we provide information within 2 years that we are married.

Consulate Review: Ethiopia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 27, 2016
Embassy Review : Communication is sometimes slow through email, and the phone numbers were not really helpful. There was no issue about not having a mailing address in country as all communication was through email.

At the consulate the staff are great. The initial check-in outside was very professional and friendly. The Consulate Officer asked the typical questions, nothing unusual. The CO was professional yet friendly.

The whole interview experience was pretty good, as as expected. Nothing of surprise. And no the US Consulate in Ethiopia is not extra hard on K-1 visa applicants.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
