Embassy Review : |
My fiancé arrived outside the embassy around 12:30 for her 12:55 appointment and like most other reviews I've read here, she was asked to wait across the street in the park, which she did. When she started to notice a queue gathering closer to the time, she went back to the door, and the officer waved her forward to the front of the line since she had been there first.
Inside, she of course went through security and was given a number. She sat down and was called to the first window within 5 minutes. The woman was not friendly, but not unfriendly either. Just seemingly uninspired by her job -- I can imagine. She sat down again and was called to the second window within another 5 minutes. This woman was nicer, took her paperwork, and told her they did not need to see any of the other documents she had brought (we prepared a TON of additional Evidence of Ongoing Relationship since our interview was almost a year after we submitted our initial application). But yeah... they didn't need it. The only thing she accepted was my fiancé's updated criminal record.
After sitting back down for another few minutes, she was called up to the third window. This woman was very nice and friendly, asked a couple questions about how we met and a few other things specific only to our case, and then after making conversation for a minute said, "You're already approved, by the way." She let my fiancé know that she'd have her visa in about 10 days, and sent her on our way.
It was very easy and MUCH less stressful than we feared. |

Embassy Review : |
My fiance came to visit me in the US about a month after we had received our NOA-1. She came with a copy our I-129 packet, a letter from her French notary that she owned a company in France, and also that she still owned property there as well. After using the kiosk at customs, she went up to the window and the officer asked her why she was visiting (vacation) and who she was visiting (her fiance). No further questions and no request for documents. Her passport was stamped and she was on her way. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
