Embassy Review : |
Our appointment was at 8am. We arrived at 7:15.. we parked for 200 pesos next to the embassy in the private parking. We paid first and they gave us a green ticket meaning we had already paid (as opposed to red ticket). We walked to the embassy. On the way there were people telling us that they would attach the photo and that the embassy was going to send us back there to do it... I ignored it and just marched to the embassy to speak to someone official.. We got to the embassy and outside before u go inside there are lines for normal people, and people with appointments 7am, 8am, 9am. We got into the 8am line and they checked our email print out of the appointment confirmation. They put us in the line for security. We got past security, standard remove your belt, no weapons, no phones, etc.
we got inside and there's a huge open air waiting area. The security lady told us to go inside, show our appointment confirmation email, and get our ticket. Our number was 280, we were told to sit in the back. We waited about an hour and they started to call numbers 265 to 275, then 275 to 285, we went inside. Inside we sat down with everyone else. There are about 30+ windows with people behind what appears to be bulletproof glass or so. It was very cold for my girl she was shivering at times, at times me too. After about 1.5 hours waiting our number came up. We went to the window and was greeted by a friendly hispanic lady who asked us for my fiance's police, medical, birth certificate, and passport... she asked us to confirm our phone numbers, she took my USA phone number. She confirmed our names and basic info from the application. There was a problem with the fingerprints from the VAC that they weren't in the system.. We did VAC on Friday and Interview the following Monday.. Surprise that they weren't entered into the system. She had my fiance go to another window and scan her finger prints... after we were told to sit down.
We waited another hour or so... then our number came up. It was an american looking woman with a headset and typing on the computer. She spoke spanish with an english accent. She asked my fiance if she's ever been outside USA, do we have any kids together? any kids apart? Have we ever been married? Has she ever been in trouble with the police? Have I ever been married? Everything was clean and clear so she took more fingerprint scans of my fiance... Then she had the original 129-F and she was flipping through it... It was organized the same way with the acco fasteners... (exactly how I read how to do it here) as she flipped through it I saw on the first page that it had a stamp that said "APPROVED" I wispered to my fiance that it said approved on it, she started to get excited... I was unsure if that just meant the US side was approved.. but anyway within a minute or two later she said "I'm going to approve this visa, congrats" and that was it we said thank you so much and left...
They did not ask me for financial information, no affadavit of support, no tax/pay stubs, nothing... However they did both ask me how many times I had visited... and it was a lot.. 9 times in 17 months... so that helped a lot I guess... anyway it was easy as pie. We saw some people get denied and a lot walk away smiling so it's hard to tell...
Basically if u are both first marriage, never problem with the police, no kids, it will go smoothly... once it gets complicated or if you made any mistakes.. You can't forget any document they ask for.. I had all financial, letter of intent, bank statement, taxes just in case but they did not ask for it.
We are very happy now.
thank you for VisaJourney and all the incredible resources here without this website we wouldn't have been able to do it, and especially without ANY LAWYER!!! thanks!!!! (Lawyer wanted to charge me 3000USD for labor) |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
