Comments : Our appointment was at 7:45 in Detroit and we only waited about 15 minutes. We had really nice interviewee and she had a big file already in front of her. We had brought 2 sets of all the documents requested in the interview letter (including pictures), one set with originals and the other an exact copy. She only asked if there was anything in our "pile" that we felt necessary to add to hers. I handed her the copies we had that proved our "bona-fide" marriage such as, utility bills, bank statements, etc. that showed his name as well as mine. She also said that after his green card came, he was free to travel to Canada without worry. Overall, it was a great experience.

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 3, 2015
Embassy Review : Arrived at 6:30(recommend being early as by 7 there were plenty of people there, about 15!!). Guard came out about 7:30 and checked everyone off and made sure you had the needed papers(recommend having your DS160 at the ready). Very pleasant and friendly. At 7:40 they escorted us in and you have to unload everything into a container(since you have to walk through a metal detector), then they checked us with a wand as well. They do keep your cellphone(give you a ticket that you collect it after), and then we went downstairs to wait for the guard to take us upstairs. Came about 10 minutes later and told us to go to the 19th floor(wow we were packed in!!). Once upstairs, they called us up by the number were assigned as we entered to the booths in front of us. Lady I spoke with was very pleasant(told me I would have to redo my passport photos, since the background wasn't white enough), and collected up papers(divorce docs, birth certificate, etc....suggest having your papers in order as it's much quicker), made sure I read over the domestic rights papers as well. Very fast, efficient and pleasant. Had to sit back down for about 10 minutes and got called up for my interview. Super nice guy at the counter made sure I read and understood the lawful declaration part, took my fingerprints after, interview took about 10 minutes in total then he handed me the Loomis papers and welcomed me to the U.S.!! Really a super easy process as long as you make SURE to have your papers in the proper order(really speeds things up).
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
