Comments : When my turn came up at the immigration check point, the officer looking over my document told me that there was some discrepancy in my documents and asked another officer passing by to take me in to the office to clear it. I was told "they will tell you what to do". But within 15 min i was lead out of the office with no explanation back to the first officer. They told me that the photo was not a clear one and they have to do that again. They took a second set of photo and fingerprint. I was asked for photos and copies of supporting document which they took from me after which i was told to move on to the second check point (after the luggage pickup). The whole thing took about one hour.

Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 3, 2015
Embassy Review : The interview went quite easy for me. Though i was very nervous when it started up halfway through i was able to relax and be at ease with myself. You have to be very familiar with all the information and basic details and all the paper you have in your possession. They do not allow phones, CDs, pen-drives or any unnecessary electronic gadgets with you. Since mine was a K1 visa I had to carry proof of relationship like photos, email and chat message printouts, phone bills details time and duration of calls between us. We got engaged in a small ceremony when he was in India for a short visit so had the pictures of the ceremony. The embassy officer was quite helpful and nice. He asked questions on how long we knew each other, about my fiance's educational background, a few current details about him, how many times we have met, what our future plans were and when we were planning on having a marriage ceremony. He also told me of how once the VISA is approved and i enter the US i will have only 90 days to get married and file for the rest of the document. We have to swear an oath that we will only speak the truth and all the information given before and then are true to the best of our knowledge. They do observe you closely when they ask you questions. And you can also have the interview in your native tongue if you want it so. It was an option. The only trouble i had was in making a phone call upon leaving the embassy.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
