Comments : Steve arrived on Nov 3; right through the MSP POE (15 minutes!) and not one hitch anywhere along the trip. Great experience. Thank God this part is done and he is finally here safe and sound!

12/1/05 Update. Steve had to fly back to the UK to care for his elderly ailing father. We didn\'t get married and are hoping he can come back before his current K1 visa expires Feb 3, 2006. If not, we are back to ground zero and will be filing a brand new K1. Tough times ...

3/23/06 Final Update: This is of the story for MeandMyGeordie as a couple. My Geordie went back to the UK and while there his father died and his 21 year old daughter has begged him not to come back to the US. He called to tell me he is going to stay there with her and cannot come back to the US. End of our dream.

Comments : POE experience was a breeze. They took my Passport/VISA, brown envelope and I-94, stamped the passport and I-94 stub and asked me a few questions: What is your fiances name, where does she work, how long have you known each other, how did you meet, and when are you getting married then sent me on my way. By th way, Steve went through Minneapolis St. Paul. For some reason the drop down dialogue box on the POE section here on the boards doesnt show MSP or Minneapolis .. but thought you all would like to know which POE it was. Great (easy!!) expereince. The worst part of his trip was his very short layover in Amsterdam on the WAY to the US. They had gun packing security who all grilled and questioned him as if he were a criminal. He brought his guitar over and was stopped not once but SEVERAL times while IN the concourse asking him point blank if he was carrying a gun in his gig bag! Now how stupid is that! They checked him inside out getting on the plane, through x-ray and then in Amsterdam; and still harrassed him about his gig bag. Be prepared if you have to layover there for the grand inquisition.

Embassy Review : My fiance's experience with the London Embassy was painless. We believe the key is to have all your 'ducks' in a row with the intitial paperwork (the I-129F). If you've submitted everything there, they oftentimes don't even ask for the truckload of documentation we've all taken with us to the Embassy. They tell you to bring originals of everything that was in your I-129F packet. We did and everyone does and you should. One never knows when they might ask for it but from ALL the interviews I've read unless there were special circumstances, they didn't even ask for it. They asked Steve for his Passport, 2 US size passport photos, VISA bank payment receipt, his sealed medical results envelope (NO XRay needed), his police certificate, his marriage and divorce certificates, the Affidavit of Support from me and just gave a cursory look at all the backup documentation I provided for that, .. didn't need ANY of our 'proof of relationship' or any of the original marriage divorce stuff I sent .. that was IT! It really is pretty painless there and for the most part, they are very very friendly and seem to want to approve you. They don't grill you or make jump through a bunch of hoops. The only thing on the down side I have to say about the London Embassy is that it seems some of the staff aren't sure which que folks belong in. If you're there for K1 or K3 and you are directed to a VERY long que, they've sent you to the wrong one .. the K1-K3 que is very short compared to the other one ... tell them you are there for K1 Interview .. Immigrant visa!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
