Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 4, 2015
Embassy Review : We arrived at around 6:30 for an 8am interview, we were 2ns ones in line for the 8am citas. They started letting people in at around 7am. Line moved fast enough. Once inside the consulate, we were giving a number and were told to have a seat and wait for our number to be called. Once our number was called(about and hour a half) a the girl at the window asked us for our papers, since we had been expedited we were turning everything in at interview. As she was asking us for the specific papers my husband and I knew exactly were we had everything, she kept just looking at us and smiling. once she gathered everything she instructed us to go and pay for our IV fee and come back to the window to hand her the receipt. Once we did that, we sat back down to wait for counsel to call. About 10 minutes after sitting down, they called us to window number 11, and there he was. First thing he did after greeting us was making swear, everything was conducted in Spanish:

Council: SO Ms. Jennifer you are peruvain
ma: yes I am
Council: do you have any friends or family who live here in DR
me: no
cohncil: so tell me how does an Peruvian, American citizen girl marry a Domininan
me: I have Dominican friend in FL who invited me to come visit with her and her husband and my husband is her husband;'s best friend, we met fell in love and now we are here
council: analyzes the connections...so whe did you met him?
me: in July 2014
council: and di du marry him
me: September 2014
council: so how may times have u been here after the wedding
me: 4 times
council: so you met him in July and came back in September to marry him
me: yes
council: so you marry him the 2nd time u met in person
me: yes, but we always kept communication through fb, whatsapp and Skype
council: oh ok, perfect....as he starts looking through the pictures that were sent with the I130 he asked my husband: what are your stepdaughters' names?
Hubby: answer the question
council: who is the oldest
hubby: answers question
council: what does your wife do for a living?
hubby: office manager at a clinic
council: ok, what kind of clinic?
hubby: answers question
council: do you have anymore pictures of the rest of the trips because I only see the ones from the weeding here
We hand it to him, he skims through them and says perfect
council: Mr. Frias have you ever been convicted of a crime? and have you ever applied for a visa to the US?
Hubby: no
council: well your visa has been approved, you can now go and celebrate. your visa will be ready in about 2 weeks.

It was an amazing moment, the council was very, very nice, made us feel comfortable, I was nervous, but as soon as he started making conversation I felt very comfortable.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
