Straight forward, though staff were a little confused about what to do and what line to put us in. |

|
Comments : |
Green card expired and I never received evidence that I was allowed to stay in the country. I had to set up an appointment with USCIS to get a I-551 stamp in my passport. This provided me evidence of permanent residency for 1 year from the date of my appointment. |

Fairly straight forward. Other reviews go into enough finer detail regarding getting there and the process, etc. I didn't wait too long. Interview was quick. The CO wasn't too invasive and was very friendly, so I had no issues with the actual interview. The only problem was that my CO got confused about the tax documentation requirements. She ended up asking her supervisor and then he confirmed that a document was missing, even though the document was never requested and wasn't technically required. It was very disappointing not being approved on the spot, and my case was put into administrative processing for over a week due to what seemed like their human error. It wasn't a problem in the end but it did slow everything down.
Communication after the interview is virtually non-existent. Eventually I got an email from the consulate with approval notice. |

Embassy Review : |
When we first got off the plane a staff member was directing people where to go so we waited for her to direct us. US residents/citizens were directed to the right and first-time tourists were directed towards the left. We explained ourselves to the woman but she didn't seem to understand our situation very well and acted confused. She told us to go to the right where Automated Passport Control was located.
My wife scanned herself in easily but we didn't know how I was supposed to scan myself in as I didn't have a physical green card upon entering the US for the first time. Another person attempted to help us but they didn't understand our situation either. They told me to not scan myself in and go to the counter to be stamped in with my wife. This process took a while at the machine trying to figure out what to do.
My wife was stamped in but difficulties and more confusion arose when it was time for me to be stamped in. The officer completed our customs form and instructed us to go to counter #20. This took a few minutes.
We waited for around 5 minutes before we were helped at the special New Immigrants counter. I handed him all my documents (he didn't take the X-rays I was told to bring) and started to look through, stamp and sign various sheets of paper. We were at the last counter for 5-10 minutes. My fingerprints were taken at various points and I signed a few documents. The customs officer at the last counter was the most competent out of all of the people we encountered.
The overall process took roughly 30 minutes. It was an easy process in the end, just everybody was confused and didn't know what to do. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
