Embassy Review : |
My interview was scheduled at 7.30 AM on 21st january 2015. I reached the embassy by around 6.30 AM but by that time there is a lot of people waiting there. By 7 AM, the security guards asked us to form two lines- one for immigrant and other for non immigrant visa. At that time I was 18th in the queue
At 7.15, they allowed the immigrant visa applicants first to enter into the embassy. They don't allow any digital items, even the medical CD is not allowed. The queue is separated into ladies and gents for security check and again they separated single applicants like me from group applicants. Believe it or not, I am now 3rd in the queue.
One of the consular assistants told us to keep the interview letter first and guided us to one counter where I got the token. Then they asked us to wait for our turn.
My token number displayed at another counter. The lady in that counter told me to give all the documents. She checked everything and told me that my wife's W2 form is missing. She said if you submit I864EZ form, then W2 form is must along with IRS transcript. I told her I have a copy of 2012 W2 form but I dont have 2013 W2 form. She said they need w2 of most recent tax year i.e.,2013. Then she told me to submit atleast w2 of 2012 and I did it.
She asked me few questions like
Who is calling you?
What is your wife's date of birth?
Where is she staying in USA?
She then gave me a pamphlet and explained me the legal right against the domestic violence and told me to read the entire pamphlet. Initially I opted for english as the interview language but I told her that I want to change to malayalam. She said yes and told me to wait for the interview.
After another 30 minutes, my number displayed at another counter, where I saw a young handsome gentleman along with a lady translator. He asked me How are you? I said I'm good and asked him the same and he said he is good. Then he told me to take a oath that all the informations that im going to give is true and I did it.He then asked me questions like
What is your wife's job?
Where is she staying?
With whom is she staying now?
Do she has any siblings?
Where are they staying?
What are their names?
Is this your first marriage?
Are you working now?
Did you work in the past?
What are you doing now?
What kind of job are you going to look at houston?
I had a huge amount of documents to prove our relationship but to my surprise he didnt even look at a single document or picture. After these questions he said the golden words every visa applicant want to hear - 'Your visa is approved'. He then told me that "you will get your visa within a week" and told me to pay 165 dollars once I get the visa in hand. He then gave me an instruction manual about the fee payment and wished me Good luck in Texas and told me to enjoy with wife in Houston. I said thank you and left the counter as the most happy man in the world.
The people at Mumbai consulate is very helpful and I had a very good experience there.
I thank God and all the visa journey members who helped me this far...... |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
