Embassy Review : My interview appointment was on May 27, 2015 at 7am. As everyone else we got there just a little earlier and got on the line that indicated appointments for my timeframe. I made sure to have my documents very organized and easily accessible to grab and hand over whatever was needed.

As we got inside we went through the metal detectors and I was actually surprised to see women with purses, I thought we couldn't bring anything in? In any case you go through the yard with other people sitting and back inside to another waiting area.
The first time around the numbers are called pretty much in order, we were called about 45 minutes later to window 3. The lady asked us for medical, photos, and a few other documents. Again I had everything neatly organized so handed her everything quickly and easily. She told us to sit and wait to be called again, at this point I wasn’t sure if she would call us again or someone else. I saw other people get called twice by the same agent so that confused me a bit.

I was very surprised that everything just happens right there, it’s like a teller and you can see and hear everyone’s conversations, you can’t help it. I was getting even more nervous as time went by. One couple the older gentlemen said he had a farm because he liked horses, and they asked her how many horses he had, OMG. In any case I was trying to stay focused on myself. To be honest I didn’t speak much to anyone, everyone looked nervous to me and I didn’t want to bother. Some couples really had heads turning….. in any case.

It was about 3 hours later that we were finally called, in no order I actually jumped and grabbed my fiance because I wasn't expecting it, we were called to I think window 23. It was a white lady, maybe American, young maybe late 20’s early 30’s. She asked what language we preferred, I said Spanish because my fiancé doesn’t speak English. Her Spanish was really bad and we had a hard time understanding some questions. We took an oath and she just started asking questions, didn’t even direct them at anyone specifically, so we both answered at the same time;
So you want to get married? Smiling, are you sure? Where did you meet? Was she on vacation (referring to me)? Do you go to hotels/ resorts?
To him: Does she have kids? How old are they(he got the ages wrong she didn’t even notice)? Has she been married?
To me: When was your divorce?
To me: Does he have kids? She commented on my fiancés son age, he’s very young but was not conceived during our relationship. She didn’t really let me answer and just kept asking questions. Do you know his kids mom? Where do you stay when you come to DR? Why?
To him: how was the engagement? When, where? Did she cry? Did you buy the ring? Where did you buy the ring?
To me: How many times have you come to visit? Answer: 10 times … I think that kind of sealed the deal. She was like wow 10 times.

They did not ask for affidavit of support, about our pictures or any additional evidence. I think this is because I sent a very good strong package with pictures, resort and hotel receipts, phone logs and Facebook / Instagram posts, chats etc. I think they really take the time to look through that and the decision is really made by the time you hit that window.
I feel like they ask so many questions in a very short time and everything is so vague afterwards. In any case she said visa approved, I thought we would jump for joy but I think we were just kind of omg thank God its over and slowly kissed. She gave us a sheet of paper that was very general on how to track the passport and visa status etc.

This is where my nightmare has begun. He still does not have his passport/visa issued. We were on administrative processing until June 11th and now status reads “Ready”. Every time I track the passport it states no information available, every time I call either the system is down or no supervisor available they just tell you to keep tracking online. I‘ve emailed about 5 times and received no response. This has been even more stressful and frustrating than the interview itself. I thought we were through the hard part but nope, I pray and check every single day. He’s missed my brother’s baby shower, my son’s graduation, and now his birthday is coming up and we won’t be together. This was not part of the plan. I am very saddened that they do not have answers and we just have to sit back and wait.
In any case hope this info helps. Good Luck to you all!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
