Hi, I hope your interview went well. My interview is at the same place next week, so can you share your interview experience? Do you have any advice for me?

Hi! It was so easy. Appointment was at 1:15. We got there around 12:45 and they didn’t call my husband until 2:35. I was allowed in the waiting room. His interview was via a zoom-like screen. They mostly went over his application, there were a few weird little glitches (my first marriage didn’t show up, our address was “wrong” because we didn’t use the 9 digit zip, etc - easily clarified stuff.) Then the civics q’s, it was all easy ones. The who,e thing took 25 minutes. He got scheduled to take the oath TOMORROW. We are coming from Charlottesville so it’s a 5 hour round trip but I hate to complain because… 1 day! So be ready for that. My only advice is bring something to do, the Wi-Fi is spotty at best. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll do great!! Happy to answer any other questions!!

That is great. Congratulations on becoming a US Citizen. It must be a great feeling for you and your family. What time was the oath? Is it normal that they arrange an oath on the next day of the interview? Mine is next Friday so maybe my oath will be next Saturday. Congratulations again and thanks for the quick response.

The oath was at 9:30 this morning although there was one going on when we got there at 9. It was all over by 10:05. I think more people were coming in, too. Many people getting naturalized today with my husband had been in the waiting room with us yesterday, so I am guessing this is how they do it - everyone approved during the week takes the oath on Saturday. But that’s just my guess. It was a really moving experience for us both and it is so nice to be at the end of this journey! I wish you the best of luck on Friday!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
