Embassy Review : |
A relatively painless process. The only hiccup was at the very beginning. Someone had forgotten to put my name (the petitioner) on the list of people authorized to enter the embassy that security at the door goes by. I was denied entry. My husband went in alone and when he was first called to the window he asked the woman if I could be let in. She rolled her eyes at her coworker's mistake and said of course and called security. I was waiting at the door and was immediately passed through.
The rest was very straight forward and quite quick. We turned in originals of our marriage certificate and his birth certificate (these were returned to us, she just needed to check them) and the police certificate (which she had to keep). We also turned in our 2014 tax transcript and more recent bank account statements, as we did assets only for the I-864.
The only questions asked about us were when and where we got married. Then he asked us about my work situation and bank accounts. I explained our various accounts and told him my profession, that I'm going to continue working in that in the US, and we also turned in a formal job offer my husband recently received. I'm convinced that talking about what my husband and I are going to do for a living in the US made all the difference in approving directly with assets only, and not asking for a joint sponsor. The whole interview I had the feeling that the officer either was playing stupid asking me about things that were fully documented in paperwork we sent in, or he hadn't spent the time to read everything, as he did seem surprised when I explained my work history and bank accounts.
In all, it was less than an hour, and most importantly, we heard those magic words- "Approved, you'll have your passport back in about a week." |

Timeline Comments: 2Hello and congratulations. I am still waiting.
would you kindly share what RFE asked for?
THANK YOU
They asked for a longer time period of bank statements, and claimed that we hadn't sent any evidence of a common residence. I just sent in the same mortgage documents I had sent the first time.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
