Arrived at 8:30 for our 9:00 appointment, I accompanied the fiancee to the interview. We were in and out by 10:15.
Ultimately they only asked for a fraction of the documentation that we had brought; they only required the appointment confirmation, D160, I134, police record (sealed), health check and vaccination from Seibo Hospital, a copy of her Koseki-tohon (I forgot the translation but they had copies of the translation I sent from her I129 application).
When we were initially called to hand over our paperwork they called us back a few minutes later saying that we had not given them any papers for the I134, which made us very nervous as I had given them hard copies of tax documentation, bank statements, and employment records. The woman at the counter came back soon after saying they had found it.
A few minutes later they took her fingerprints at a separate counter, and then a third counter called her for the actual interview.
Questions asked of her were:
How did we meet? Has she met or talked to my parents, and had I met or talked to hers? Where do we plan to live in the US? Where and when will we get married?
She still has beginner English but the staff all spoke to her in Japanese. I was not asked to speak at all so my presence was for moral support only.
Very nice experience, very glad that we made use of these forums to make sure we were more than fully prepared.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
