Well, my husband did not have a very good experience at his interview.
When he went, he was the first person in, and the last person out. The only officer he talked to was an Indian man. As soon as he was called to the counter, the man was instantly rude to him. He barely asked him any questions. He told him to sent down. Later, an Indian woman came up to the counter, and asked him some questions. Their issue they had was that my husband and I did not do anything traditional in regards to our marriage. They could not understand why my husband's parents would approve of him marrying a white girl, and allowing me to stay with him in their home even before marriage (This accusation is crazy because his parents love me to death, so this was quite disheartening.) So, my husband was told to sit down again. Later, after sitting until 2 pm. The same Indian officer called him up. He would not look at any of my husband's proofs that he brought with him. He did not really give my husband time to explain anything.
Needless to say, we got 221(g) for more relationship proof. We submitted everything that they asked for, plus more. A week later, visa issued, and the next day my husband received his visa.
So, in all this, I recommend that if you have a very, very different situation (that does not fit cultural norms). Be super prepared. If possible, even bring the US citizen along for the interview because we feel like it would have helped in our case. |

My husband said there were no issues. It took a little bit of time (I believe he said around 30 minutes), but no issues at all. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
