My interview experience June 17th 2015
My interview was scheduled for 8am and although we had heard from here that couples had been told to come back at 1pm for immigration visa interviews we hadn't received any confirmation of a time change. I even called up twice to check the time was still 8am and it was.
I stayed in London the night before as I travelled down from Nottingham and arrived at the Embassy at 6.45am....super early I know but I couldn't sleep anyway and I wanted to be there in plenty of time.
I was the first person in line and the lady at the desk asked me to come forward at 7.30am. As I feared I was told that all Immigration interview had been changed to 1pm. I did tell her that I called and checked but apparently this was not correct. She was very nice and asked that myself and another lady that was in the same situation as myself stand to one side so they could call at 8am to check it was definitely 1pm.
At 8am the lady called and was told it was 1pm, she told us to come back for 12.30pm and I double checked that my name was on the list and that I would definitely be seen today which she confirmed for me...and showed me my name on the sheet
As I had already checked out of the hotel I went around the corner to Pret a Manger-free wifi . After a lot of coffee and boring myself online I decided to take a walk back to the embassy at 12.15pm. There was only the lady that had also been told to come back later and myself.
Security started coming back out at 12.30pm and we were asked to show them our passports and interview letter. From there we went through the metal detectors and into the embassy (FYI you can take mobile phones).
Once inside the embassy we showed the front desk our interview lette and passport to which they put a sticker with a numbe..I was number 2 !
I sat in the waiting room for about 10mins then was called to a window where I handed in paperwork...birth certificate, marriage certificate, police certificate, 1 passport photo, interview letter, courier receipt and passport. The gentleman was very nice and took my fingerprints then asked me to sit back down.
After about 15mins I was called up again to a different window where a lady made me swear on the oath and informed me that this was my interview. She checked through my file and asked how long we had been married, where we met, had we been married before and if we had children. The whole process was less than 5 mins to which she said she was happy to approve us !
She did however add that due to the computer issues it could take two-three weeks to get my passport back.
It has been one week and we haven't heard anything but t's approved and they are working on the situation so positive thoughts people
Advice I would like to give is that it is definitely first come first serve. I was probably in and out in less than an hour so getting there early really does pay off. Don't panic, as long as it is all legit you have no reason to worry about anything. And finally, don't book any travel until you get your passport in hand...it's really not worth the risk of losing all your money and the heartache.
Stay happy and positive

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
